Overview

Basic Sea Survival is a PT Samson Tiara certified course designed to provide offshore personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to care for themselves and others during sea survival situations. The course supports delegates in understanding how to respond after abandonment, use survival equipment, deploy liferafts, and participate as effectively as possible in their own rescue.

The programme meets and exceeds the standards of the International Association of Sea Survival Training (IASST). Training includes classroom sessions, pool-based practical exercises, active participation in survival drills, and a survival exercise.

The course focuses on the stresses of sea survival, survival life support, survival equipment, liferaft deployment, and practical rescue-related exercises such as formation, scramble net use, personnel transfer, hoisting, jumping, liferaft righting, and lifeboat deployment.

This course is intended for offshore personnel who may need to respond to abandonment or sea survival situations, including:

  • Offshore oil and gas personnel
  • Marine and offshore support personnel
  • Personnel travelling to or working on offshore installations
  • Emergency response team members with offshore survival responsibilities
  • Personnel requiring Basic Sea Survival training

The course is delivered over 1 day at PT Samson Tiara’s Cilegon training facility. Training includes classroom instruction, pool exercises, practical drills, and a survival exercise.

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates should have an understanding of appropriate sea survival equipment and techniques.
