Overview
This awareness course provides an introduction to employee access to medical records and the role of medical surveillance programmes in protecting worker health. Participants will learn about different categories of occupational health hazards, the circumstances under which medical surveillance may be required, and the rights and responsibilities associated with medical records.
The course is aligned with relevant OSHA requirements relating to occupational health records and employee access to exposure and medical information.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:
- Describe different categories of health hazards
- Identify which hazards and employees may be monitored by a Medical Surveillance Program
- Explain how to request medical records and how access will be provided
- Identify which documents are exempt from disclosure
- Describe an employer’s responsibilities regarding medical records
