Confined Space Safety – Entry & Rescue
TEEX-certified Confined Space Safety training for personnel who may be required to participate in confined space rescue, covering rescue planning, hazards, permit systems, respiratory protection, casualty packaging, retrieval equipment, and practical simulator exercises.
Overview
Confined Space Safety – Entry & Rescue is a Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) certified course designed for personnel who may be required to participate in the rescue of an incapacitated worker from within a confined space. The course uses intensive training drills to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to conduct confined space rescue safely and effectively.
The programme reviews safe working procedures for confined spaces and develops the skills required when planning and executing rescues from a range of confined space environments. Training is delivered through lecture presentations, demonstrations, written assessment, and individual and team practical exercises.
Practical exercises are conducted in a confined space simulator using equipment such as portable gas detection systems, tripod and davit access and retrieval systems, respiratory protection equipment, communications equipment, casualty harnesses, lockout equipment, spinal immobilisation equipment, positive pressure ventilation equipment, rope-based retrieval systems, SCBA, SAR breathing air systems, and SKED stretcher systems.
Medical and physical note: This is a physical training course. Delegates are expected to be in a good state of health and must be able to participate in all physical training requirements.
Who is it For?
This course is intended for personnel who may be required to participate in confined space rescue activities, including:
- Confined space rescue team members
- Emergency response team members
- Personnel involved in confined space entry and retrieval
- Supervisors responsible for confined space rescue planning
- HSE personnel involved in confined space emergency response
- Personnel requiring TEEX-certified Confined Space Entry & Rescue training
Course Delivery
The course is delivered over 3 days at PT Samson Tiara’s Cilegon training facility. Training includes classroom instruction, demonstrations, written testing, practical exercises, team-based rescue drills, and confined space simulator activities.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, delegates should be deemed competent to carry out effective rescue efforts in a confined space environment within the scope of the course.
Delegates will develop knowledge and practical capability in:
- Understanding confined space regulations and safe work requirements.
- Recognising physical and atmospheric hazards associated with confined spaces.
- Applying appropriate control measures before and during confined space entry and rescue.
- Understanding the duties of Entrants and Attendants during confined space operations.
- Using entry programmes and permit systems.
- Understanding respiratory protection requirements for confined space entry and rescue.
- Using confined space entry, retrieval, communication, ventilation, and personal protective equipment.
- Applying casualty packaging and body manipulation techniques during rescue activities.
- Managing a confined space rescue in a controlled training environment.
