Overview

Basic Firefighting including SCBA is a PT Samson Tiara certified course designed for workers who may be exposed to fire hazards in the workplace. The course provides delegates with basic knowledge and practical skills in the use of handheld fire extinguishers and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) against basic fires.

The ability of a worker to respond effectively to a small fire can help prevent a minor incident from escalating into a major accident with significant damage, lost production time, and wider operational impact.

Classroom sessions cover basic fire theory, extinguisher capabilities and limitations, extinguisher operation, application techniques, recharge, and basic extinguisher maintenance. The course also covers SCBA types, maintenance, stowage, hazardous atmospheres, and basic SCBA use.

Practical exercises are conducted on the fire ground and include the use of various handheld extinguishers to fight Class A and Class B fires, along with practical exercises in the smoke house and fire pad.

This course is suitable for workers who may be exposed to fire hazards or who may be expected to respond to basic fire situations within the scope of their workplace duties, including:

The course is delivered over 1 day at PT Samson Tiara’s Cilegon training facility.

Training includes classroom instruction, practical extinguisher use, SCBA-related practice, and practical exercises in the smoke house and fire pad.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates should be deemed competent in the operation of fire extinguishers and SCBA against basic fires within the scope of the course.

Delegates must provide a valid medical certificate.
