Helideck Firefighting

Helideck Firefighting is a PT Samson Tiara certified course designed for personnel assigned to the role of Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Member. The course provides intensive theoretical and practical training to support emergency response to helicopter-related incidents on offshore installations.

Training combines classroom sessions with practical exercises covering helicopter operational hazards, casualty handling, breathing apparatus techniques, controlling helicopter incidents, rescue techniques, refuelling awareness, dangerous goods by air, and practical helideck emergency response activities.

Practical training includes hose and hose fitting use relevant to helicopter operations, breathing apparatus techniques, casualty handling, mobile helicopter fire extinguishers, monitor operation, gaining access to the helideck during emergency situations, and rescue exercises with and without SCBA. Practical scenarios may include external and internal fires and consolidation exercises.

This course is intended for clients who require practical helideck firefighting and Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Member training but do not require OPITO certification. Personnel who require OPITO certification should enrol in the relevant OPITO-approved Helideck Emergency Response Team Member programme.

This course is suitable for personnel who are assigned, or may be assigned, to offshore helideck emergency response duties, including:

• Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Members
• Helideck emergency response personnel
• Emergency response team members assigned to helideck duties
• Personnel supporting offshore helicopter emergency response
• Personnel involved in helideck firefighting support
• Personnel who require practical helideck firefighting training but do not require OPITO certification

The course is delivered over 4 days at PT Samson Tiara’s Cilegon training facility.

Training includes classroom instruction, practical equipment handling, breathing apparatus exercises, casualty handling, helideck firefighting exercises, rescue exercises, and consolidation exercises.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be deemed competent to take up the role of an Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Member within the scope of the training.

• Applying casualty handling principles during helideck emergency response.
• Using breathing apparatus techniques within the scope of helideck emergency response.

• Understanding refuelling considerations within the scope of the course.
• Understanding dangerous goods by air at an awareness level.
• Using hose and hose fittings relevant to helicopter operations.
• Using mobile helicopter fire extinguishers.
• Operating monitors during helideck emergency response exercises.
• Gaining access to the helideck during emergency situations.
• Participating in rescue exercises with and without SCBA.
• Responding to external and internal fire scenarios within the scope of the course.

This is a PT Samson Tiara certified Helideck Firefighting course for Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Members. It is not an OPITO-certified Helideck Emergency Response Team Member course. Personnel who require OPITO certification should enrol in the relevant OPITO-approved programme.

• Valid medical certificate.
• Valid T-BOSIET, T-FOET, BOSIET, or FOET certificate.

Recommended: Dangerous Goods Handling and Helideck Assistant (HDA) training.

Delegates must successfully complete the course based on the required performance standards in order to receive certification.

Delegates who successfully complete the course and meet the required performance standards will receive:

• PT Samson Tiara Offshore Emergency Helideck Team Member certificate.
• Laminated wallet course qualification card.
