Basic Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain
PT Samson Tiara certified Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain training for personnel designated as FRC coxswains on offshore installations or supply / standby vessels, covering operational readiness, launch preparation, radio communication, search patterns, man overboard response, casualty recovery, towing, pacing, first aid actions, and passenger management.
Overview
Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain is a PT Samson Tiara certified course designed for personnel designated as Fast Rescue Craft (FRC) coxswains on offshore installations or supply / standby vessels. The course develops the knowledge and practical capability required to prepare, launch, manoeuvre, operate, and retrieve an FRC within the scope of the training.
Delegates will learn the roles of the coxswain and crew, how to maintain operational readiness, how to prepare the craft and equipment for launching, and how to operate effectively during rescue-related activities. Training includes radio communication, FRC equipment, search patterns, compass exercises, man overboard response, casualty recovery, towing and pacing exercises, immediate first aid actions, and passenger management.
This course is delivered using Fast Rescue Craft equipped with outboard motors. The practical boat-handling and manoeuvring exercises are therefore based on outboard-driven craft and may differ from training delivered on jet-propelled rescue craft.
The courseware was developed with reference to STCW rescue craft competence expectations; however, this is a PT Samson Tiara certified course and is not STCW-approved or STCW-accredited.
