Helicopter Ditching / HUET

Helicopter Ditching / HUET is a PT Samson Tiara certified course designed to train delegates to react correctly to, and survive, a helicopter ditching at sea. The course is intended for personnel who travel by helicopter to offshore installations, vessels, or other over-water locations and require practical helicopter escape training but do not require OPITO certification.

The training combines classroom sessions with pool-based practical exercises covering offshore helicopter operations, helicopter safety, survival equipment, ditching preparation, upright helicopter evacuation, and inverted underwater egress techniques.

Practical exercises are conducted using the Modular Egress Training Simulator (METS™). The METS™ uses functioning replicas of emergency exits installed in helicopters commonly used for offshore operations in Indonesia, giving delegates realistic training with equipment similar to what they may encounter in an actual emergency.

The course includes surface and underwater evacuation exercises, including upright and inverted escape exercises using mechanical and push-out windows. Samson Tiara’s HUET / Passenger Ditching training also includes practical escape scenarios designed to build confidence in responding to realistic helicopter ditching situations.

The course has been developed using courseware from Survival Systems Limited, the manufacturer of the METS™ simulator, and Samson Tiara’s instructors and METS™ operators are trained and certified by Survival Systems Limited.

This course is suitable for personnel who travel by helicopter over water and may need to respond to a helicopter ditching emergency, including:

• Offshore oil and gas personnel
• Personnel travelling to offshore installations or vessels by helicopter
• Marine and offshore support personnel
• Personnel working in over-water helicopter operations
• Personnel requiring practical helicopter ditching and underwater escape training
• Personnel who require HUET-type training but do not require OPITO certification

The course is delivered over 1 day at PT Samson Tiara’s Cilegon training facility.

Training includes classroom instruction, safety briefings, pool-based practical exercises, surface escape exercises, underwater escape exercises, and METS™ simulator evacuation exercises.

Upon successful completion of the training, delegates should be deemed competent to correctly react during an emergency helicopter ditching situation within the scope of the course.

• Carrying out pre-ditching checks and actions after ditching.

• Performing surface escape techniques.
• Performing underwater escape techniques.
• Using mechanical and push-out emergency exit windows during METS™ exercises.
• Completing upright and inverted escape exercises in the METS™.

This is a PT Samson Tiara certified Helicopter Ditching / HUET course. It is not an OPITO-certified HUET or T-HUET course. Personnel who require OPITO certification should enrol in the relevant OPITO-approved course.

Delegates must provide a valid medical certificate.

Delegates must successfully complete the course based on the required performance standards in order to receive certification.

Delegates who successfully complete the course and meet the required performance standards will receive:

• PT Samson Tiara Helicopter Ditching / HUET certificate.
• Laminated wallet course qualification card.
