Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (ICS 200) – NOCN Certificate

Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response (ICS 200) is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System (ICS). The course is based on conventional ICS guidance and adapted for the management of initial response to incidents within industrial and workplace environments.

The course builds on foundational ICS and NIMS principles and focuses on how ICS is applied during initial response. It strengthens the ability of personnel to coordinate effectively with government and private-sector response partners while operating within a structured incident management framework.

ICS 200 is suitable for personnel who may take part in initial incident response, support an incident command structure, or work within functional areas and positions during an incident or event.

This course is available as a PT Samson Tiara certificate course, a TEEX-approved course, or an NOCN-certified course delivered in partnership with Wild Geese Group. The syllabus and teaching materials are the same across all certification variants.

This course is intended for personnel who may operate within an ICS structure during the initial response to an incident or event, including:

• Emergency Management Team members
• Crisis Management Team members
• Incident Management Team support personnel
• Initial response supervisors
• Operational supervisors
• HSE and emergency response personnel
• Personnel assigned to functional roles during an incident

The course is delivered through classroom-based instruction, discussion, and practical application of ICS principles. Training can be adapted to industrial and workplace incident environments and can be aligned with company emergency response procedures where required.

Upon completion of the course, delegates should have a foundational understanding of ICS and NIMS principles and be able to apply those principles during the initial response to an incident.
