Legionella Awareness

Overview

This awareness course introduces legionella and the risks associated with water systems where the bacteria can grow. Participants learn where legionella may be found, the conditions that allow it to multiply, and the control measures used to reduce the risk of Legionnaires’ disease.

This course is delivered as RelyOn eLearning and has an approximate duration of 30 minutes.

This course is suitable for employees, supervisors, facilities personnel, maintenance teams, and others responsible for or working around hot and cold water systems.

• Describe how the risk of legionella is controlled in potable water systems
• Describe how the risk of legionella is controlled in all water systems
• Explain how water is treated
• Describe cleaning and disinfection procedure

The course includes topics such as:

• Temperature ranges and growth conditions
• Health effects and Legionnaires’ disease
• Control measures and monitoring
• Responsibilities and reporting

Assessment

Learners are assessed through knowledge checks and assessment questions throughout the course. This course includes 20 questions.

Certificate

Successful completion of the course will result in a certificate of completion issued by RelyOn.
