Overview

This awareness course introduces basic components of water management systems and potable water responsibilities. Learners will review wholesome and potable water, water received from shore, road tankers, vessels or barges, water production methods such as reverse osmosis and evaporation, treatment options, legislation, and responsibilities for key job roles.

Who is it For

This course is aimed at Medics, 2nd Engineers, Chief Officers, and personnel with similar responsibilities for potable water management.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain what wholesome water and potable water is
  • Receiving water alongside (ex-pipe, road tankers)
  • Receiving water from other vessels or barges
  • Reverse Osmosis
  • Evaporation
  • Explain the various water treatment options (disinfection) available, including Chlorination, UV filtration, Silver Ionisation, Ultra-filtration
  • Identify legislation applicable to water management
  • Describe water management responsibilities for key job roles

Course Content

The course includes topics such as:

  • Wholesome water and potable water
  • Receiving water alongside and by road tanker
  • Receiving water from vessels or barges

  • Water treatment and disinfection options
  • Water management legislation
  • Responsibilities for key job roles

Assessment

Learners are assessed through knowledge checks and assessment questions during the course. The course includes 10 questions.

Certificate

Successful completion of the course will result in a certificate of completion issued by RelyOn.
