Workplace Fire Safety

Workplace Fire Safety is a PT Samson Tiara certified half-day course designed to provide general workplace personnel with a basic understanding of fire hazards, fire prevention measures, and appropriate responses to a fire emergency.

The course is intended for personnel working in office, industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities who are not members of an Emergency Response Team. Delegates will develop basic knowledge and practical skills related to the use of fire extinguishing devices and alarm systems, primarily to support safe evacuation of themselves and others from a fire situation in the workplace.

Instruction is delivered through lectures, discussion, demonstrations, and practical exercises. Practical training is conducted in the use of portable fire extinguishers.

Depending on client requirements and available training space, the practical elements of the course can be delivered using real fire with Samson Tiara’s FirePan™ training device or through a Digital Fire Simulator.

This course is suitable for general workplace personnel who require basic fire safety awareness and practical extinguisher training, including:

• Office personnel
• Industrial workers
• Commercial facility personnel
• Institutional facility personnel
• Administrative and support personnel
• Security guards and security supervisors
• Facility management personnel
• Warehouse and logistics personnel
• Supervisors and team leaders
• Personnel who are not members of an Emergency Response Team but require basic workplace fire safety training

The standard course is delivered over 0.5 day. Training is available at PT Samson Tiara’s Cilegon training facility or on-site at the client’s workplace.

For on-site delivery, the course can be scheduled in multiple half-day batches, subject to class size, site conditions, practical exercise arrangements, and instructor availability. This allows clients to train one group in the morning and another in the afternoon, reducing disruption to normal operations.

If conducted on-site, the client should provide a classroom or other suitable quiet area with chairs, desks, whiteboard, and overhead projector. Depending on the practical delivery method selected, a parking lot or other suitable location with approximately 15 metres clearance may also be required for practical exercises and course equipment.

Practical extinguisher training may be delivered using one of the following options, depending on client needs and available training space:

• FirePan™ live-fire training: A gas-fuelled fire training device that allows delegates to practise extinguisher techniques on real flame under instructor control. Flame height is adjustable, and built-in safety mechanisms allow the instructor to control the exercise using a single-button remote control.
• Digital Fire Simulator: A simulator using a large LED screen and smoke machine to simulate Class A, B, or C fire scenarios. Delegates identify the fire, select the correct extinguisher type, and apply the correct technique to extinguish the simulated fire. This option can be used inside many workplaces with minimal disruption to operations.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates should have a basic understanding of common fire hazards in the workplace and the basic use of fire extinguishers.

Delegates must successfully complete the course based on the required performance standards in order to receive certification.
